Yes it is. I am mid-40's married to Sarah Rosenblatt and we have two beautiful boys who each have all of our best qualities. Sarah and I really have passed on great genes. You'll see if you ever meet our boys. Anyway. I began writing in earnest in high school. I had always been a sarcastic, mouthy chap and quick-witted. I was also out-spoken. (Without fail, my report card showed each term that I needed to "Show growth in self-control.") When it came time learn about poetry in 9nth grade, I complained and/or made some kind of sarcastic remark. So the teacher gave me Lawrence Ferlinghetti to learn: "Christ Climbed Down," saying, "Here, even you should be able to appreciate this." I was thrilled by the poem. I loved the negative, sarcastic, serious yet funny tone (As my father-in-law might say: "Wow. Wow. This is the best poetry ever!") The poem was so good I relished it and read it out loud to the class. It was great fun showing off in class in a constructive way. I had always loved words and the dictionary and encyclopedias and poetry gave me a focus. By my freshman college year I began to tell people that I was a poet and wanted to be a writer. I wrote and wrote and started performing. Gathered on this site are all my writings I would care to have anyone read. In addition to my Poetics, my Visualizations are also here. Keep in mind that all of my art sprouts from my love of words. So my songs are meant to be poems set to music and my art works are wordy ideas made into sculptures, collages, paintings, etc. Dig it? I'm bored by this. Let's flim flam right out of here. |
